Lynn Christiansen Esquer is an expert practitioner in social media advertising, marketing and public relations, and a former newspaper journalist and editor. Her more than 20 years of experience include her recent role of Marketing Director at The Open Group, the world’s leading IT standards organization — where, in the first 12 months of her tenure, she organized and produced all content for the organization’s new website, instituted a new comprehensive email communications program, boosted the organization’s social media presence and engagement by as much as 900%, refined and disciplined its PR program, launched an influential thought-leadership corporate blog, and attracted a record number of corporate global member organizations to join. Lynn’s previous experience includes her work at Peppercom San Francisco, where she handled PR accounts for Yahoo! and Wilbur-Ellis Co. and established the agency’s marketing communications division; her executive role at full-service marketing agency Shennum Green, Inc., where she handled special projects, particularly in the interactive division she founded and led; and e-agency, Inc., where she served as vice president of account services and directed the agency’s largest account, AT&T. In her previous life as a journalist, Lynn was a reporter and editor at The Contra Costa Times, The Oakland Tribune, The Californian, and other publications in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles regions. She founded the Central Coast Press Club to provide media support and continuing education for television and print journalists and public relations professionals in the Monterey County/Santa Cruz County region. Lynn studied print journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communications, with a minor at USC’s School of Cinema-Television. Currently, in addition to her activities at SocialProse, Lynn serves on the Board of Directors of a video media startup, DigNit; and is editing a book on politics scheduled to publish in late spring of 2013. She lives in Alameda with her husband, Eric, their two children, and a small menagerie of quirky pets.
